Innsbruck, Austria

What a drive to get here! It was everything that I wanted a drive through the Alps to be: picturesque, ever changing, cooler than the sweating I was doing in the south.

Did we get stalled for the good part of an hour as 2 tractor trailer trucks needed to pass each other on a one lane road through a village, and an entire line of traffic had to rearrange for it to happen? Absolutely. But was it beautiful to look around while there? Also true. Did I end up in first gear more than I anticipated on some of those grades? Yeah, that happened. Apologies to everyone who ended up behind me at those points.

I chose Innsbruck as a destination very specifically. I had never been to Austria, and this was a great way to get a visit in, but this city also has some significance to me. When I was in college there was a study abroad program available here, and I was not able to join. So it felt like fate when this was right on the path I wanted to take.

It was a longer trip than anticipated, so I got in late and didn’t get to explore much, but the city is pretty. And there is an Arch, because why not?

This was a great stop for me specifically for my encounter with the the guy at the front desk at the hotel I stayed at. His initial confusion over me being one person that had 2 parking spots on my reservation led to a conversation about my trip, and his genuine appreciation of the opportunity I had to see and experience so much on it. His enthusiasm really reignited my own, and reminded me to enjoy the journey while I am on it. So, thank you for that! ❤️

Innsbruck is a very quaint village in the valley of the mountains, and it is pretty much everything you would want that to be. I can see why my University decided to drop a bunch of co-eds there for a few months every year. I am glad I was able to make it there. What I appreciate most from the stop though, is the reminder of just how cool this trip is.
